Lot 674: 2002 John Smoltz Game Worn Jersey
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Smoltzy’s 2002 jersey represents the high water mark of his 5-year incarnation as a starter-turned-closer. He wore it for at least some of the 75 games he came into, along the way saving a big league-best 55 games and winning the NL Rolaids Relief award. The remarkable transition helped keep the Braves atop the NL East and only reinforced Smoltz’s credentials as a HOFer-to-be. Road gray shirt has “Atlanta” over the tomahawk on the chest and “20” on the back in red on black tackle twill, and “Smoltz” in black on upper back. “Russell Authentic” tag on left front tail with Set No. “1-02” label and size “50 100% Polyester” and “1” Extra Body Length” flag tags. Jersey shows moderate use and was originally obtained from the Braves.
