We wonder how many of Big Mac’s 583 lifetime homers left their “mark” on this fabulous and very game-used truncheon he used during the ‘99 season -- when he banged out 65 homers with 147 RBIs before breaking down physically his final two seasons. One can see, and almost feel, the punishment the man laid on pitches, with angry black welts and seam marks dotting the fat end of the Rawlings “Big Stick” personal model lumber, which also has pine tar residue over halfway up the handle and cleat and rack marks at the top. Knob -- which is engraved “MAC25 239 99” -- has “33 McGwire” written enigmatically in black marker. This uncracked stick is surely one of the most evocative, grittily authentic mementos of the man who put the “juice” into the home run. Unbelievable display appeal.
