The 1940’s were the most productive decade in Cardinals history, in no small part due to the guys in baggy uniforms in these three great framed photos from Sportsman’s Park that hung in the Stadium Club. The most familiar face is of Stan “The Man” Musial, in the second of the photos, leaning on his bat along with the two heroes of the 1946 World Series victory over the Red Sox -- Enos “Country” Slaughter and Terry Moore. It was Harry The Hat Walkers hit that allowed Slaughter to score all the way from first with the winning run in Game 7. The first photo captures the mound artistry of southpaw Harry “The Cat” Brecheen, who in ’46 became the first pitcher to win three games in a World Series. The third photo shows Marty Marion in his Cardinals warmup jacket by the bat rack, gripping the barrel of his bat. All photos are matted and framed, respectively, to 33” x 38”, 32” x 38” and 27” x 38”. These 1980s prints of vintage 1940s photos are all EX-MT.
(Estimate $500 - $1,000)
