Lot 309: Bases and Game-Used Baseball from 5/5/05 Triple Play Game at Busch Stadium (4)
ITEM DESCRIPTION
The three bases and a game-used baseball commemorating one of many unforgettable Busch Stadium moments – the triple play the Cardinals pulled off on May 5, 2005, something they hadn’t done since August 1, 2002 in Florida. It happened in the second inning, with the San Diego Padres’ Brian Giles on first and Phil Nevin on second. Both were off and running on a 1-0 pitch from Matt Morris to Ramon Hernandez, whose line drive was gloved by Albert Pujols, who stepped on first and threw to second to complete the triple-killing. First, second and third bases have the Busch Stadium Final Season 1966-2005 logo on the top in navy, red, yellow and white, as well as the Cardinals team logo on two sides and the MLB “I Live For This” logo on the other two sides. Authenticated Official MLB Baseball shows markings of use from being batted around in the game.
