Mark McGwire wasn’t the only one to make home run history at Busch Stadium. The four items in this coveted lot are mementos of Ken Griffey Jr.’s 500th career homer, slugged on June 21, 2004. On that day, Busch fans witnessed Griffey leading off the sixth inning against Matt Morris and slamming his 19th round-tripper of the season, becoming the sixth-youngest player to join the 500 Club. On his way around the diamond, Junior stepped on the two bases offered here, which appear to be first and third bases. He then went to a box next to the Reds’ dugout and embraced his father, Ken Griffey Sr. and his children. The sellout crowd of 45,620 on Lou Brock bobblehead day gave Junior a warm ovation. The bases contain the MLB and Cardinals team logos on two sides and show plenty of good game use. Also offered is an Official ML baseball used during that historic game. Ball has the MLB hologram and also shows game use. Finally, there is a small container holding approximately 10 ounces of dirt from the home plate area where Junior dug in prior before slamming his watershed dinger.
