Lot 682: Roy Orbison Early 1970s Concert Program

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $25.00
Winning Bid: $24.59
Price Realized: $29.38
Auction Date:9/10/2005 9:00 PM EST

Roy Orbison's country-flavored ballads of loneliness and lost love and his upbeat '64 smash "Pretty Woman" made him one of the world's most influential singer/songwriters in the '60s. The Beatles even wanted him to manage their 1st U.S. tour. Constantly touring himself, Orbison performed in England in the early '70s. This rare "Roy Orbison Show" concert program from the gig has nifty cover art of his signature shades bathed in a psychedlic black on green and white pattern. Great shots inside of a young Orbison. Program is 8.5 x 11" and EX-MT w/just a few specks here and there. The other acts that night -- Freddie Weller, The Art Movement and The Mercy Blues -- are long forgotten, but the Big O will never be.
