Lot 237: Saturday Night Fever Original Record Store Advertising Poster

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $1.00
Winning Bid: $30.49
Price Realized: $36.43
Auction Date:6/26/2005 9:00 PM EST

This very famous poster not only got people into the theater by the millions to see "Saturday Night Fever." It also got millions of dorks decked out in white polyester doing unreasonable facsimiles of Travolta's finger-in-the-air gyrations in every cheesy disco in America. This is an original vintage print used in stores to advertise the gazillion-selling soundtrack album. The core is a shot of the falsetto-throated Bee Gees behind a posing "Tony" while the movie's smash songs are scrawled along the bottom. 24 x 36" poster is VG-EX with light folds and creases from being rolled and unrolled, which would vanish like the Hustle with good matting and framing. The movie, and this poster, are pop culture standards, which will be "stayin' alive" forever.
