This lot features a 1949-50 Toleteros card of Chester Brewer graded SGC 40 VG 3. Brewer was an outstanding pitcher with a wide array of pitches. The record books credit Brewer with a 127-79 record for his long career in the Negro Leagues. After retiring from baseball he was a major league scout and instructor with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1957-74) where he developed a close relationship with Roberto Clemente. A light paper wrinkle on the right border and some minor stock damage to the reverse caused SGC to grade this card a VG 3.
