Combine photography that seems to exceed real life, a legendary subject, and condition as pristine as Augusta National after a spring rain, and you get this Grand Slam Ventures card of Tiger Woods winning the Masters in 1997. This baby is the Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan Back from The Dead be-all and end-all of golf cards. Its vertical design is perfection, unsullied by any cornering or surface flaws. It's rarity is compelling: This gold foil version of the Masters Collection Woods (GEM MINT!) was available to between 300 to 600 subscribers in 1997. Its perfect grade is nearly impossible to achieve because of composition complexities and foil sensitivity. The front of this 2 3/8 by 4 3/4 ace is a beaming Tiger; the back is a hug from dad, which carries more emotional punch than ever because of Earl Woods' failing health, plus a peppy news report about the victory, and scorecard. Tiger is the Masters champ again, but neither he nor you may ever top this card.
