Lot 507: Fenway Park 2004 World Series Upper Deck Buntings (10)
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Penthouse version of the historic buntings that draped Fenway during last year's World Series, these 10 sections having been hung from the upper deck. Condition is generally EX with some tearing on a few and a bit of soiling from the October elements that buffeted Fenway, but for Sox buffs and collectors there are scant few items that seem as sanctified as the symbols of a dressed-up Fenway during a World Series -- a winning World Series, for a change. Given the team's 86-year stay in Purgatory, we'd even be prone to believe the buntings came straight from Lourdes. Besides, no wind could ever be as blustery as whatever comes from Curt Schilling's mouth. Yankee fans -- and Mariano Rivera -- are just glad the buntings weren't kept for future Fenway confrontations. They'll take their chances with new buntings anytime. Indeed, whoever owns these buntings may be hearing from the Sox management should things be looking especially dark again this October. Tell 'em to bring their checkbooks.
