Lot 1562: Babe Ruth Signed Snapshot Photo
ITEM DESCRIPTION

If Babe had ever been on the cover of GQ, it would have looked exactly like this unbelievably, and probably unwittingly, stylish snapshot, circa 1932, signed by Ruth in – what else? – a stylish hand. It casts a mature Bambino in a dark double-knit blazer, sharply creased white slacks, shiny spats, perky white cap, a stylish pin in his lapel, standing behind a classic roadster, a white-clad woman of mystery in the driver’s seat. Further back, a single tall tree rises above the car from a forest that spreads out behind Babe’s shoulders. No Madison Avenue art director could have done any better. Signature in thick, flowing blue ink has a tiny bit of blotching but is still 7.5/10, and on one of the best Babe-at-leisure shots ever. 2 1/4 x 3", slightly sepia toned photo is VG-EX with light creasing and somewhat irregular edges from being trimmed. LOA.
