Lot 1269: 1986-89 Greg Maddux Game Used Rookie Era Bat (34")

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $300.00
Winning Bid: $695.54
Price Realized: $831.17
Auction Date:6/26/2005 9:00 PM EST

A bat in this pitcher's hand is no mere charade, as Maddux has proven worthy of a personal model Louisville Slugger. He used this LS B267 from 1986-89, his first few big league seasons with the Cubs, and the plethora of ball marks may be evidence of his .333 batting average as a rookie and .210 in '89. Greg has hit a not-too-shabby .170 over his career with 4 homers and 69 RBIs. Bat has slight pine tar residue and a crack in the area of the handle. It was Maddux, of course, who said, "Chicks dig the long ball."
