Lot 1983: Ray Neufeld Hartford Whalers Game Worn Jersey
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
Forward Ray Neufeld, one of a handful of African Americans to compete in the NHL, got a cup of Connecticut coffee - 8 games - with the Whalers in ‘79-80, when the franchise joined the NHL as part of the merger with the WHA. Though he didn't turn many heads, he did score his first career goal during that span, and wore this jersey for some of that time. Neufeld would come up for good in ’81 and establish an effective presence throughout the decade with Hartford, Winnipeg and Boston. Green mesh jersey with blue and white piping has the club’s "HW" logo on the chest, "Neufeld" on back and "10" on back and both sleeves in white on blue tackle twill. "Whale" patch on right sleeve. Collar tagging is "Good Sports" with size "52" and "80" flag tags. Great use with heavy stick marks across the lower front and sleeves.
