The Houston Aeros were the WHA's first dominant team -- not coincidentally, it was also the one with Gordie Howe, who took them to two straight Avco Cups in '74 and '75 -- but were not among those league teams taken into the bosom of the NHL when the leagues merged in '79. Too bad, since this jersey, worn by center Larry Lund -- who played all 6 of the Aeros' seasons, racking up 33 goals and 108 points in '74-75 -- is a sight for sore eyes and all those who collect the quickly-vanishing WHA uniforms. Lund, who'd played 12 years in some of bush-league hockey's most obscure outposts, was reborn in Houston at age 32. He wore this great-looking dureen blue jersey with white and light blue piping on his broad back during the '76-77 seasons, a 29-goal, 67-point campaign. Jersey has "Aeros" in old-style white lettering stitched across the front, "Lund" across the back, and "13" on the back and both sleeves. White star on each shoulder. "Rawlings [size] 50" tagging in collar. One rugged jersey, and one hard to find one as well, one of the scarcest of those great WHA shirts.
