Lot 1996: 1977-78 Ernie Wakely Houston Aeros Game Worn Jersey

Ernie Wakely was not very big, but he was quick. Even at age 38, the 5-11, 160-pound veteran turned in a stellar season wearing this 1977-78 Houston Aeros jersey. The Howe family had taken its act to New England, but Wakely kept the Aeros competitive. And the team always had a cool jersey, with "Aeros" in semi-gothic script running down the front, and the aqua, blue and white color scheme. There's cuts and wear where he had on his glove and blocker, plus game-stressed threading elsewhere. The jersey, which has the original Stall & Dean label on the inside collar, had a number change, but it is all Wakely's. He played like Sawchuk in Houston, posting a record of 28-18-4.
