Lot 648: Jimmie Foxx Signed Burke Photo
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Jimmie Foxx's grinning silhouette beams out from the past, framed by gold-embossed columns that read "HOME RUN" and "CHAMPION." Note the warm note, "With Kindest Regards To My Friend Mr. Evans" right above his looping, distinctive signature (10/10). This original 11- by 14-inch Burke work (MINT) packs the kind of vintage punch that Foxx displayed in his Hall of Fame career. This probably dates to 1932, the year Foxx won his first home run crown with 58 for the Philadelphia Athletics. Note the cutoff sleeves and undershirt. Foxx loved to show off his muscles. Now you can show off an important piece of Foxx memorabilia. From pioneer collector, Harry Evans.
