Lot 1658: Marcel Cerdan "Champion of the World" Signed Postcard

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $300.00
Winning Bid: $574.83
Price Realized: $686.92
Auction Date:6/26/2005 9:00 PM EST

French pretty boy champ Marcel Cerdan puts punch into a 4 x 6" advertising postcard. His encased PSA-certified autograph (9.5/10) in blue ballpoint enables you to compare his live signature with the printed one above "Champion Du Monde" (champion of the world). Jake LaMotta later turned Cerdan's matinee mug into splattered tomato in their middleweight title fight. Cerdan, a married man of three who had an affair with French singer Edith Piaf, died in a plane crash in 1949 on his way to the rematch. Thus, there are loads of collectibility factors in this piece.
