Wright was a career .294 hitter with some pop, which explains the dents and other markings from heavy game use. The bathead displays his elegantly carved signature, which would look right at home on a historical document. The handle was flared, chic for the time. Nails were driven into the fissure on the handle, perhaps for display purposes. The VG-EX 6 by 8-inch black and white captures a slightly grinning Wright in front of the dugout. As the typed caption on the back reads, the picture was used with a story about a May 7, 1925 game in which he completed an unassisted triple play against the Cardinals.
