Lot 1201: Mike Piazza Mid-1990s Game Worn Catcher's Mask
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Forehead, chin and cheek sweat on the tan padding plus scratches on the blue-painted cage give Mike Piazza's catcher's mask from the mid-1990s that nice caught-in look. Piazza was just beginning his career as baseball's greatest power-hitting catcher with the Dodgers when he used this mask to corral one of the National League's perenially best pitching staffs. His "31" is written on the Rawlings tag. A catcher's equipment is often called the tools of ignorance but any game-used Piazza is a smart call. Originally obtained directly from the Dodgers.
