Lot 1356: 1929 World Series Scorecard and Ticket Stub
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
A trio of rare and valuable artifacts from the 1929 World Series, headed by a stunning scorecard from Wrigley Field, one of the nicest of its era we've seen. 6 x 9" with a beautiful cover portraying the opposing managers, the A's victorious Connie Mack and Joe McCarthy, in b&w against vivid black, red, yellow and blue. Back cover shows a young Wrigley Field. Inside pages were printed partly in light gold with intricate border detail. Binding is gold braided. Even the scorecard was marked with good penmanship. (NRMT, vintage yet ageless.) Scorecard comes with the original envelope it was mailed in from Chicago to Buffalo (with an Oct. 8 postmark). This is a rarity in itself, as it is inscribed "Souvenir Score Card, Chicago Cubs, World Series, 1929" on the upper left corner. (VG with yellowing and damage on bottom and sides from being ripped.) Also included is a $3 "Standing Room" ticket stub from Game 1 with the image of Wrigley against a green background (NRMT).
