UPDATE: The two cards that are not included in this lot are Red Sox and Cardinals Team Cards. These cards have a NRMT value of $10 each. It should also be noted that there is some pencil writing on the top left reverse of nearly every card.
These cards were produced and sold by The Trading Post, which was one of the first card collectors' publications. This 113 card set was issued over 12 series at 50 cents per series. Considering this is one of the first baseball card sets issued after World War II, it contains cards of several players not found in other issues. The cards are black and white, unnumbered, blank-backed, and measure 7" x 10". Included in the set are some of baseball’s all-time greats, you will find cards of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson VG (small amount of paper damage measuring 1/8th of an inch in the lower right corner, there is also a small crease to the same corner.) Stan Musial EX, Rogers Hornsby EX, Lou Gehrig VG-EX, Joe DiMaggio EX, Lemon/Rolfe VG (small tear,) Ted Williams VG-EX, Honus Wagner VG (small tear,) and Babe Ruth VG-EX. The remainder of the set presents well the breakdown mostly do to light corner wear is, 15% EX, 25% VG-EX, 40% VG and 20% slightly lesser. Some of the cards have what appears to be some light water damage and/or toning, but this does little to detract from thei rvisual appeal This is a great collection of exhibit style cards that are rarely seen and seldom come up for auction. According to the 2005 Standard Catalog of Baseball cards the NM value for the set is $3250. Please note the two cards missing are common players.
