ITEM DESCRIPTION

You would kiss your bat too if it had accomplished what Ted Williams' did on Sept. 28, 1941. On the final day of the season at Philadelphia, Williams went 6-for-8 in a doubleheader and finished with a .406 average. Nobody has hit .400 since. Hillerich and Bradsby 6 1/2 by 8 1/2 archiver is in kissable shape as well, with glossy finish and near-flawless border. The handwritten date of the classic shot plus the stamps of H&B and Press Association Inc. are on the back, along with editor's ID scribbles of just who is planting the buss on the lumber. That's Ted, T-E-D, guys. Williams was hitting .39955 before the last day and could have sat with an official .400. But he didn't. Breakfast of champions.
