Lot 1487: Fantastic Don Mattingly Game Used Lot (6)

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $1,500.00
Winning Bid: $5,091.73
Price Realized: $6,084.62
Auction Date:6/26/2005 9:00 PM EST

Don Mattingly, the most popular Yankee of the last three decades, rang up a .307 career batting average, nine Gold Gloves, the '85 MVP and a record eight straight games with a homer, and did it all with mainly mediocre editions of the team (anyone care to remember Don Slaught, Andy Hawkins and Eric Plunk?). This peerless collection of game-used Donnie Baseball items recreates the play and the pluck of the man with the mustache and includes: 1) Yankee road gray knit jersey with "New York" across front and "23" across verso in blue on white tackle twill, "Russell Athletic" [size] "42" label and "1993" year tag. LOA. 2) Road gray knit pants with "Russell Athletic" [size] 34" label with 100% Polyester tag and "Mattingly 34-29-92" year and size label. 3) Helmet with "23" and NRMT Mattingly signature in silver marker on bill, "23" on back. Size 7 1/4. 4) Two pairs of Nike cleats (size 10.5) w/COA's, one verifying shoes were worn on 8/10/92. 5) Signed 1977 Reitz High School (Evansville, Indiana) yearbook. Five (5) NRMT signatures in blue sharpie, on the over (with "23") and by his senior picture, basketball team picture, and two shots of him in action during games. Yearbook EX-NRMT, with COA.
