For Frank Robinson, the Puerto Rican Winter League was an important pitstop on the way to becoming the big leagues' 1st black manager in 1975. Seven years before, he began managing the Santurce Brujos to prepare for the day he became the Jackie Robinson of the dugout. This Santurce contract from the 1974-75 winter season marks the last months of the countdown. Signed on October 28, 1974, it gives Robinson a salary of $800 per month. His signature on the Spanish-written contract is NRMT, joined by those of the team's president and the league's commissioner. The historically important contract is also NRMT with 2 binder holes punched on top.
