Lot 1255: 1964 Joe Torre Game Used Bat (35")

Yeah, he could hit too. After shedding the padding of his early years, Torre wielded this Louisville Slugger "U1" for the Milwaukee Braves during a 1964 season in which he hit .321 and drove in 109 runs. A mini-crater above the carved "genuine" is among many game-used markings, including a fault line up the handle and the original tape that Torre used to keep his grip on this tapered club. Torre finished his playing career with a .297 average and 9 All Star game appearances. Which makes him one of the few outstanding players to ever become an outstanding manager.
