Lot 63: The Who Signed Fan Club Photo
ITEM DESCRIPTION

There was something about the Who that separated them from the mob of mid-'60s British rockers following in the Beatles' path. Eschewing pop singles, they focused on albums that personified the lifestyle and "teenage wasteland" alienation of their generation -- insisting, as Pete Townshend wrote and Roger Daltrey sang, "I hope I die before I get old" -- and later creating the first rock opera, "Tommy."
This rare promotion shot by the band's London fan club with Townshend, Daltrey, Keith Moon and John Entwistle glaring at the camera, perhaps dying to start destroying their instruments (or for Keith, to get as high as the moon). Signed by Townsend, Moon and Entwistle. And while the signatures are a bit congested, each name is readable in bright blue ink, averaging 8/10. The photo measures 6.25x7.75"and is VG-EX with a fold along the middle and mildly on three corners, and some light soiling.
