Lot 1308: Small and Large Versions of Rube Bressler's Baseball Game
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
An extremely tough get is "Rube Bressler's Baseball Game," a popular board game in the mid-'30s -- "The only game for home or club that plays like REAL BASEBALL!" Here are 2 versions of the dollar-priced game, full and scaled-down, each with images of Bressler, who played 18 big league years, on the cover of the box. Larger (13 x 24") has a vibrant yellow and red cover with blurbs like "For parties", "For the home" and "As a Gift"; smaller (6 x 11") is brown with no embellishments. Crude game involved moving small round player pieces around the bases according to a toss of dice. Larger game has a board with a "field"; the smaller has no board, meaning one had to improvise. Used condition (G-VG), with most pieces intact though some of the dice are crumbling. Both games are very playable -- and very displayable..
