Lot 1178: 1976 Steve Carlton Philadelphia Phillies Game Worn Pants
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
Lanky road pants worn by the King of the Hill for much of the '70s and '80s date back to '76 when Lefty went 20-7 with a 3.54 ERA to lead the Phillies to their 1st NL East flag. It's sometimes forgotten these days that Carlton is the 2nd winningest southpaw ever, has the 2nd most strikeouts ever, and was the 1st to win 4 Cy Young Awards. Blue pants with red and white piping show great use, caked-in soiling and 2 repaired areas of where they've been stitched up. Waistband has "Wilson [size] 36" tag, blue label sewn in with "Carlton 76 1 36" embroidered on it, and the letters "Tief" handwritten in red marker. Great pants from a HOF pitcher.
