Lot 1720: 1953 NBA All-Star Game Humidor Presented to Players
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Handsome cigar humidor presented to the players at the 1953 NBA All-Star Game, very much politically correct (and likely much used) in the smokin'-in-the-boy's-room '50s. The top of the heavy tin humidor is the grabber, literally, with a round handle beautifully engraved "National Basketball Assn. Annual All Star Game-January 13, 1953-Fort Wayne, Ind." Around the handle is a "gold tooth" pattern and underneath it is a laurel leaf design. Underside of top is a cork reading "Dip in cold water." Humidor is a beautiful chocolate brown color with the engravings tinged bronze-gold. Amazingly NRMT with some near invisible scratches along the surface, a few black streaks on the red interior and scattered tobacco residue on the underside of the top. 5 1/2" in diameter, 5" from base to handle.
