When A's Manager Dick Williams had his 1972 World Series ring stolen from a Las Vegas hotel room, owner Charlie O. Finley gave him a spare one. Of course, the ring had Finley's name engraved on it, so Williams' wife added a personal touch. She replaced the oval green gem with 10 seven-point diamonds. The engraved gold band around the diamonds reads "World Champions." On one flat side is "A's 4, Reds 3" for Oakland's winning margin, and the other has the A's logo. Nothing is chipped or faded. No memory of a sports dynasty in the making is lost. One man's championship is about to become another's priceless heirloom, and you will not need Gene Tenace to drive in nine of your team's 16 runs to get it. The cufflinks retain the ring's original design of a large green stone embedded in a gold shield with "Oakland A's World Champions" surrounding it. Though not personalized, the cufflinks are still a show stopper.
