Lot 768: 19th Century Fireman's-Style Bib-front Jersey
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Bib-front long-sleeved flannel jersey with dress collar and pearl buttons was the snazzy uniform of choice for 19th century baseball teams -- and a lot of firemen. Sweating through inning after inning must have taken its toll. Makes a great conversation piece and adheres to the exact design of the time. Detailed gold stitching, sewn-in "A" on the front and web slits at the tuck-in point enhance the diamond-dandy look. Takes you back to the infancy of our national pastime without leaving your living room. Because of the red color and logo, we can surmise that this one was used as a fireman's shirt.
