Lot 1249: 1990 Barry Bonds Game Used Pirate Bat
ITEM DESCRIPTION

It isn't often a bat gets the best of Barry Bonds, but this 1990 model absorbed a nasty pitch on the throat that gouged a divot and opened up a fault-sized crack. Dark smudges near "Genuine" tell of sweeter contact, as does the partial "corked center" tattoo resulting from a flush collision with a ball that had those words printed on it. Note the "24" handwritten under the knob. Bonds used the number of his godfather, Willie Mays, with the Pirates, but changed it to 25 when he went to the Giants because, of course, Mays' number was retired. But no matter for which team, how often does a Bonds Louisville Slugger get slugged like this?
