Pat LaFontaine was one of the greatest Americans to play in the NHL and a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. From the Olympics to the World Championships, he excelled on the international stage. In this 1991 Canada Cup jersey he was no different. He scored three goals in pushing a talent-laden squad to the silver medal behind Canada. A five-inch gash on the right wrist of the polyester sweater came courtesy of a jagged stick or goal pipe. Either way, it must have hurt. The years haven't erased a blood stain on the left forearm either. The Labatt Coupe Canada Cup decal with half maple leaf/half multiplying hockey stick on the right shoulder offers a small but welcomed design touch. LaFontaine is one of the few players to have earned the love of both Rangers and Islanders fans. His country is grateful, too.
