The well-traveled Larry Murphy spent a little more than two seasons with the Minnesota North Stars, but his classic green 1989-90 jersey shows plenty of action: stitch repair marks on the bottom yellow and white stripes, and on the right sleeve below his No. 8 ( later retired by the North Stars in honor of Bill Goldsworthy). There is a prominent smudge of puck and dirty ice on the yellow bar below the waist. Murphy, a Hall of Fame defenseman with a knack for offense, played on four Stanley Cup champions and was always willing to absorb a stick and a crosscheck to make the play, then, turn up-ice and roof one.
