Lot 1452: 1964 Jim Palmer Minor League Jersey

Aesthetics and historical value make perfect battery mates for this gray flannel jersey worn by Hall of Famer Jim Palmer when he pitched for Aberdeen, his first professional team. The felt of the orange Aberdeen script across the chest remains nappy, and the team's Pheasant decal, with part of its right wing unstitched from the right sleeve, is a splashy display of Native American design. Air holes under the arms ventilate for the South Dakota summer. There are a few discolorations due to use, although Palmer did not stay long in the minors. After going 11-3 in 1964, Palmer joined the Baltimore Orioles, for whom he won 268 games. Capture Palmer before he changed the No. 23 on the back of his Aberdeen uniform to No. 22 for his long illustrious reign in the majors.
