Lot 1398: 1975 & 1976 World Champion Cincinnati Reds Signed Baseballs

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $300.00
Winning Bid: $925.77
Price Realized: $1,106.29
Auction Date:6/26/2005 9:00 PM EST

These team-signed balls from their back-to-back championship seasons recall the unbeatable Big Red Machine's finest days, capped off by their disposing of the Red Sox in "the greatest World Series ever" in '75 and vaporizing the Yankees in a 4-game sweep in '76 (which Yankee fans pretend never happened). Both ONL (Giles) balls (30 signatures on the '75, 28 on the '76) contain the key names -- HOF'ers Bench, Perez, Morgan, manager Sparky Anderson (and the blacklisted Pete Rose)-- as well as Gullett, Eastwick, Billingham, Nolan, Foster, Geronimo, Griffey, Borbon, Flynn, McEnany, etc. The '76 ball adds names like Lum and Youngblood. Signatures are nice and the balls are overall somewhere between EX+ and EX-MT.
