Century old document recounts the year the Boston Americans became one of the charter members of the American League. Over a decade before the birth of baseball's oldest ballpark (Fenway), this stock certificate, dated Nov. 24, 1901, was produced, thereby entitling stock holder, C. H. Raudle, to 34 shares of the Capital Stock, Boston American League Baseball Club. This most important certificate marks the inception of one of the most fabled clubs in the history of the Major Leagues, and is signed twice in black fountain ink by Red Sox owner and president, John Taylor. Stock certificate No. 52 is nearly flawless, having been treasured like a museum piece, presented in Near Mint condition, except for original folds.
