Lot 463: Jackie Robinson Single Signed Baseball
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Single signed ball by the man whose dignity and grace under fire will always be the game's single greatest victory of all. Robinson's number 42 is the only one that has been retired for every team. Single signed Robinson balls are a particular favorite, and this is one of the best around. The ONL (Giles) features a clear and vivid signature in black ink turned with a consistent ink flow and a flourish to the "J'. While faded just a tad, the signature is still a gutty and prime Robinson, grading out at 7/10. Ball itself is a beautiful and even cream color, with three solitary brown marks and light fading of the stampings. Western International League stamp on the side panel, as this was signed for the batboy of the team when Jackie came to speak at his school.
