Lot 1860: Cyril Pinder 1975 Chicago Wind Game Worn Jersey

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $300.00
Winning Bid: $431.88
Price Realized: $516.10
Auction Date:6/26/2005 9:00 PM EST

The impoverished World Football League went belly up before its 2nd season was over, folding 12 games into the '75 season. This kelly green and white jersey worn by Chicago Winds running back Cyril Pinder that season tells an even sadder tale -- the Winds folded after just 5 games. Pinder, a former college sprint champ and 6-year NFL veteran, also played for the Chicago team the year before when it was called the Fire. The mesh "Red Fox [size] L" jersey is screened with "46" on chest, back and sleeves and "Pinder" on back. Light use. Comes with a NRMT Winds program for a game against the Jacksonville Express on July 12, 1975 to aid identification. These great unburied treasures from the woebegone WFL are precious finds as very few such items have survived, and almost nothing like this.
