This beyond rare circa 1904 photo of Clark Griffith -- one of the earliest images of Griffith as Highlander (Yankee) manager, a job he began in 1903 -- is also one of Conlon's earliest photos in his decades of shooting ballplayers on film. Photo undated but the Highlanders' shirt Griffith is wearing with the separated N and Y was used from 1903-1908. When the interlocking "NY" came to be in '09, Griffith had gone to the Reds. 4 x 5" photo has faded in a way that creates the ultra vintage look of an old bromide print or cabinet card. Remarkably, in VG condition. Thompson's ID stamp is on back as is handwriting by lensman Charles Conlon, who was working for Thompson at the time.
