ITEM DESCRIPTION
|
||||||||||||
Rare signed photo of ill-fated Cub 2B Ken Hubbs on a 3 1/2 x 5" (beautiful) photo from June 1962 -- the year he won the NL's Rookie of the Year award, hitting .260 and setting a record with 78 consecutive games without an error -- mounted in a great display between two Cubs lineup cards from that season. Hubbs, the only rookie to win a Gold Glove, was tragically killed at age 22 when a private plane he was piloting crashed on February 15, 1964 near Provo, Utah. Signature in blue ink grades 8/10. Photo taken by Barney Sterling, which has a classic pastel look, is EX. Lineup cards from 6-15 and 9-30 has batting order in pencil, including Ernie Banks and Ron Santo. Both cards EX. All items mounted within white matted background under glass in a 12 x 17" red-brown frame. Sig obtained in person by a Chicago area sportswriter.
