Get a load of The Tramp and the champ. Two autographed 1918 photos of Charlie Chaplin with welterweight champion Ted Lewis show the silent film comic's hobnobbing extending far beyond Hollywood. Lewis, a fellow Londoner, was breaking into movies at the time and these wonderful images come with a letter of authenticity from the family these came from. Both sigs are NRMT. 1) The pair sparring is signed "Best Wishes to Mike McGowan from Charlie Chaplin & Ted Lewis." There is some creasing and a major tear which only affects the word ”to.” 2) Garden portrait is signed "Best Wishes to Mike McGowan from Chaplin & Lewis." Some minor creasing but great contrast. Both photos are by Lumiere of N.Y. Both are mounted on black paper.
