More proof, as if any was needed, of the other-world properties of "the most famous floor in basketball" is this 24 x 24" inch slab of parquet marking the location of Gerald Henderson's steal of a James Worthy pass against the Lakers in Game 2 of the 1984 NBAS Finals, a theft more critical even than the time "Havlicek stole the ball" since it saved the Celts from near-sure doom. After losing game 1 at home, they were trailing 115-113 with 18 seconds left when Worthy tried a cross-court heave to Bryon Scott -- but Henderson cut in and picked it off and went all the way in for the layup that tied it, before the Celts won 124-121 in OT and eventually the series in 7, the first Bird-vs.-Magic finals showdown. Henderson's NRMT signature is on the parquet sector in black marker, mounted to the left of 2 plaques, 1 (7 x 9") with the team's leprechaun logo and reading "The Historic Boston Garden Parquet" and another (5 x 8") in black & silver with "Gerald Henderson's Steal Stuns Lakers, Celtics vs. Lakers, Game 2, 1984 NBA Finals."
