ITEM DESCRIPTION
|
||||||||||||
Collection of 11 signatures of great ballplayers from the '50s, half on government-issued postcards from the era trimmed to 3x5", half on 3x5" index cards. Postcards include autographs of Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, Leo Durocher, Johnny Mize & Joe Black. 3x5 cards include Frank Frisch (pencil), Whitey Ford, Casey Stengel, Larry Doby, Ernie Banks, Johnny Mize & Enos Slaughter. All but Black are HOF'ers. Signatures are in blue ink (unless noted) and are 8's and 9's, with Mays having written the valuable addendum "N.Y. Giants" underneath his mark. Some signatures (Doby, Ford, Frisch, and Mize) were covered with vintage adhesive tape, in an effort to preserve them. PCs are VG to EX, some with yellowing.
