The great ones go out on a high note, and this prized ticket stub recalls how the greatest hitter of 'em all went out -- on the highest note possible. On September 28, 1960, in the 8th inning of the last Red Sox game at Fenway that season, the Thumper cracked a 1-1 pitch from Baltimore's Jack Fisher into the RF bullpen, his 521st homer. Rather than try to top it, Williams left the game in the 9th to a standing ovation and played no more that year, leaving that magical final swing as his swan song. The 1 x 2 1/2", two-buck grandstand ducat is VG. On back is a hand-written notation "September 28, 1960" and Williams' name.
