Connie Mack's proud legacy was about all that was left of the Phildelphia Athletics, who finished a typical 7th in the NL in '53 and would move to Kansas City two years later. This beautiful OAL (Harridge) ball from that season has 21 hardy signatures, some of whom thankfully found greater fame elsewhere, such as manager Jimmie Dykes, Eddie Robinson, Joe DeMaestri, Bobby Shantz, Gus Zernial, and 45-year-old Bobo Newsome, in his last season. Others include Eddie Joost, Joe Coleman, Loren Babe, Pete Suder, Ray Murray, Harry Byrd, etc. Signatures in blue ink average 7-8/10. Ball is lightly toned and has a few hardly visible scratches.
