ITEM DESCRIPTION

Outstanding original artwork by famous sports artist C.R. Schaare for The Ring Magazine's "Outstanding Fighters of 1937" issue is arguably the best of all the grand old fight mag's "outstanding fighters" editions' cover art. For those, artists were commissioned to provide a compelling image in place of the usual photos of pugs in fight stances. Schaare's "Four Aces" motif, in which facial images of champs Barney Ross, Louis Ambers, Sixto Escobar & Marcel Thil appear on "Ace" cards held by a monstrous hand emerging from the bottom, is a collector's item in its published form but here is the "trump card" -- the original 21 1/2 x 27" original painting, with Schaare's signature in white against the blue circle behind the cards. EX-MT with a few incidental scratches in the white surrounding white area but almost none on the actual color images. Sized overall to 24 x 30" in a frame with a few cracks.
