Exceedingly rare card of HOF'er Hoss Radbourn is one of only 15 known cards that comprise the legendary 1889 Diamond S Cigar N526 set. Two versions of this set picturing Boston players were issued both by Number 7 Cigars and Diamond S Cigar. The cards are approximately 3-1/8" by 4-1/2" and feature black and white line portrait drawings of the players with their name printed below in capital letters along with the team name ('Boston Base Ball Club'). The backs carry an ad for either Number 7 Cigars, or in this case, Diamond S Cigars ('Best 10 cent Cigar in America'). Card is an unusual variation with "C.S. White & Co." advertising on the front with red stamp for a local tobacconist that distributed the card. Overall this gorgeous EX-MT specimen is a very sophisticated, and thrilling, early baseball card.
