Lot 1239: 1971-79 Thurman Munson Game Used Bat (34.5")
ITEM DESCRIPTION

Like this bat he used to make mincemeat out of pitchers' best stuff in the late '70s, Thurman Munson was made of knotty pine, or so it seemed. The Yankees' inspirational leader was the heart, soul, spit, and fire of the '77 and '78 championship teams. Stirring the drink quite well (sorry, Reggie) with this Adirondack 369A signature model Big Stick, covered as one might expect with the fruits of the man's labor, in marks left by balls, cleats, pine tar and no doubt the irascible Munson's gnashed teeth when he didn't connect with it. Great Munson memento, great display condition despite the cracked handle. If only he could have been around longer to keep swinging it.
