Lot 1238: Gary Carter Game Used Bat (35")

The Kid was never anything less than a man in the clutch -- remember, it was Carter who began the Mets' 2-outs-nobody-on rally in the bottom of the 9th in Game 6 against the Red Sox, with a whistle-clean single to center. This was the kind of bat he liked to swing, a rawlings Pro Ring Adirondack Big Stick personal model "113A", and evidently he liked to swing this one a lot given its heavy use with dirt caked on the wood, a crack that ended its working life (really just a slight fissure), and all kinds of smudges and streaks and dents. Carter collected 324 home runs and 1,225 RBIs in his 19-year trek to the HOF, and this club with a handwritten 8 under the knob, surely conributed to some of that damage.
